Timed Assessments

Posted by David Brannan on Mar 20, 2010 at 5:05 PM

The problem with classroom exams.

Please read on if you are interested in learning more about how to utilize timed assessments with your own exams.

To setup timed assessments:

  • Log-in as teacher administrator > exams section.
  • Select an existing exam or create a new exam.
  • Select the new timers tab.
  • Select how much time you'd like students to have to complete the exam.

What students will experience:

  • When a student launches an assessment the timer begins.
  • In the top right corner a timer appears in green, and counts down by the minute.
  • The timer will slowly fade from green, to orange, and then red as a visual indicator as time runs out.
  • When the time has expired the exam will grade automatically.

Additional notes:

  • If a student logs out of an exam the timer will continue to count down.
  • A test administrator may allow retakes of timed assessments.
  • If no time is specified under administrator for that exam, the assessment will not be timed.
  • Timers work for both private and public exams

As always, we've tested our code as best we could but if you notice any anomalies, please be sure to send them our way.
